Shipping & Returns
Each jar of Pure & Essential is hand-finished in small batches and shipped to you with care. This page covers how we get it from our hands to yours — and how to make it right if anything goes sideways.
Where we ship
We ship throughout the fifty United States and the District of Columbia. International shipping isn't available at this time — if you're outside the U.S. and would like a jar, please write to us at hello@pureessentialtallow.com and we'll do our best.
Processing time
Orders are typically packed within two business days of receipt. Because we batch-render and bottle in small lots, an occasional fresh batch may add a day or two — we'll always email if your order will take longer than three business days to leave.
Carriers and transit
We ship from our Yorkville, Illinois location via USPS and UPS, with the carrier chosen at packing based on weight, destination, and current service performance.
Typical transit times after we hand the package off:
- Domestic Ground / USPS Priority: 2–5 business days
- Express upgrades: available at checkout where supported
A tracking number is emailed to you the moment your label prints.
Shipping cost
Standard shipping is calculated at checkout based on weight and ZIP code. We don't mark shipping up — what the carrier charges is what you pay.
Lost, damaged, or missing
If your package is marked delivered but you don't see it, please first check with your household, building manager, and the carrier's "delivered to" notes (it sometimes ends up in a side door, mailroom, or with a neighbor). If you still can't find it within three days, write to hello@pureessentialtallow.com and we'll work with you on a replacement.
If your jar arrives broken or visibly damaged, please photograph the box and the jar before discarding anything and email us within seven days of delivery. We'll send a replacement at no charge.
Address accuracy
Please double-check your shipping address at checkout. We can update an address before the label prints, but once a package is in the carrier's hands, return-to-sender packages require a re-ship charge equal to the original shipping cost.
Returns and refunds
Because our product is a cosmetic that touches skin, opened jars cannot be returned for resale. That's the same standard the wider clean-beauty world keeps, for hygiene reasons.
That said:
- Unopened jars in original packaging may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the product (shipping is not refunded). Email us first and we'll issue a return label.
- Defective, damaged, or wrong-item shipments are always on us. We'll replace or refund at your choice, and we don't ask you to return the original.
- If a jar simply isn't right for your skin, write to us. We'll talk it through, and in many cases we'll make it right anyway.
We'd rather have a happy customer than a technically-correct policy. If something feels off, get in touch.
Sales tax
Illinois residents will see Illinois sales tax applied at checkout. Other states' sales tax is applied as required by law.
